I’ve been wandering Arizona for the past few days, from Phoenix to Sedona then Flagstaff, and today I made it to the Grand Canyon. It was more amazing than I’d imagined it to be. If you get a chance to see it in the winter, I’d recommend it. The snow made the whole thing pretty magical. (I’ll be sharing more of my trip on my blog here soon.)
Also recently, I found out about Bitmoji and now I’m obsessed. You can make your own Bitmoji on your iPhone or Android phone, or in Chrome. Be warned: They could use more hair & clothing options, so try not to fret too long over your choices & just get to the fun part, instead.
Tweet of the Week:
Because it’s great obviously, and also because it reminded me to get moving on my Jane Austen re-read. Jane was a woman who knew how to make characters push the boundaries of overstaying their welcome.
I have just returned from the dubbing studio where I spoke into a microphone as Severus Snape for absolutely the last time… A lifetime seems to have passed in minutes.
Speaking of Jane Austen, remember when Alan Rickman played Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility? The Bustle’s Alan Rickman As Colonel Brandon In ‘Sense & Sensibility’ Proved He Could Be A Villain Or A Romantic Hero is a nice read. And Empire’s Alan Rickman Interview is even better. And this letter he wrote after wrapping Harry Potter is my favorite.
A few more good reads from the week:
- ‘Would he disapprove of my single heathen lifestyle?’: me and my Syrian refugee lodger (The Guardian)
- How Young Adults Spend Their Time: 2004 vs 2014 (Priceonomics)
- I was traveling during the State of the Union, so I didn’t get to do my usual eyes glued to the television routine & live tweeting, so the White House’s page with details plus the full text was great for catching me up. And FactCheck.org’s fact checking of the State of the Union is a must too.
Stay warm & enjoy your weekend! 😀
